Star Wars
I saw the original Star Wars in the theater as a child, and was immediately hooked. And being a child, I played "Star Wars" with any of my friends that I could talk into it. But this was before streaming existed. Or DVDs. Heck, we didn't even have a VCR until several years later. So I had no way to rewatch the movie. All me and my friends had to fuel our backyard adventures were our recollections of the movie and whatever comic books, dolls action figures, etc. that we managed to talk our parents into buying. So from the beginning, most of my interaction with the franchise was of my own creation.
I've happily continued my independent habits into adulthood. I enjoy all the movies. Yes, all of them. Heck, I even enjoyed the Christmas Special and even George Lucas apparently can't tolerate that one. But sometimes doing so requires wrapping certain parts in my own head canon (no, I'm not going to say which parts of which movies I do this with).
In recent years, I have taken to writing out pieces of my head canon as fan fiction. I've mostly kept this to myself, but finally (as of early 2022) decided to publish some of it here. Mostly in case my hard drive crashes and I can't be bothered to figure out whichever backup the thing I'm after is on. But hopefully someone, somewhere, will enjoy some of it.
My favorite Star Wars content of all time is, without a doubt, the Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) games. No, not the Star Wars MMO. I'm talking about the 2003/2004 single-player RPGs. If you haven't played them, they're ancient and are really showing their age by modern standards. But the stories are AWESOME, they have a huge amount of replayability, and by the time you get a little ways in you'll forget you're playing an old game and start focusing on what happens next. Plus they're super cheap (Steam often has them on sale for five bucks or less), so they're worth a try. And a remake of KOTOR I has been announced, so we'll see how that goes when it arrives.
In the meantime, a lot of my fan fiction is related to the KOTOR games. These are story-based games, and knowing the plotline ahead of time takes some of the fun out of your first playthrough. So beware, a lot of the fan fiction linked to herein has HUGE spoilers. Do yourself a favor. If you have even the slightest interest in Star Wars and you haven't played these games, give them a try. Just avoid reading anything about them beforehand.
To help with that, I've posted non-spoiler tips for both games on this site. Feel free to read through them before playing the games, then come back and read the other stuff.
Just for fun, here is quote I really like, from
avatarkc1 on Reddit: "In a Galaxy devoid of Life, Revan could have filled it with the Force. Whereas in a Galaxy devoid of the Force, the Exile could have filled it with Life."
