Event Schedule (Note: this site just guess based on history. No guarantees)
First thing, in case I forget: if a war equipment artifact says "All Enemy Defensive Towers", that means it applies to basically ANYTHING that shoots, not just "Towers". That includes Towers, Anti-Tank Guns, Mortars, Air Defense, Fort, Redoubt, Stronghold, Sniper Tower, Parliament, and maybe more stuff. It is HUGE in war. The main goal of your War Museum is to get All Enemy Defensive Tower Damage and All Enemy Defensive Tower Hitpoints as close to -85% (the cap) as you can. Your next goal after that is to get Enemy Defender Spawn Time as high as you can (no cap).
The museum provides a wide variety of fairly powerful bonuses. It can be a great benefit to you. It can also be one of the most annoying things in the game. In summary:
- You get Mysterious Fragments from battles, and from collecting at the museum (kinda like collecting at farms/roads). Be sure to collect often.
- You craft artifacts in the museum using Mysterious Fragments. Artifacts are randomly generated, and most of them suck.
- You can sell items in the museum to get Blueprints (and a few Mysterious Fragments)
- You can level up your artifacts with Blueprints, to increase the value of the bonuses
- Most of the newly-crafted artifact bonuses will be locked
- You can unlock items you craft using Supplies, Benefactors, and Researchers
- You get Supplies, Benefactors, and Researchers from the League Boat, Expeditions, and Victory Chests, etc.
- You get Legendary Artifacts from events, buying them with Legendary Tokens at Marco Polo, or by spending real money in the store.
- You get Legendary Tokens from events, watching the daily Marco Polo video (be sure to do this every day), etc.
- The museum has two halls, a Main Hall, which does not affect war, and a World War Hall, which helps in war
Here is the annoying part: you will be crafting a lot of artifacts. Like, a LOT. Imagine a ridiculous amount of time. Then double it. You will spend ten times that amount of time crafting artifacts. I have spent hours doing nothing but crafting without getting a single artifact worth keeping. There is no way to make this better - it is strictly a random number game. If you feel like throwing your phone at the wall, smashing it to pieces with a hammer, burning the pieces, then hunting down the game developers and stuffing the phone ashes into parts of their bodies that I can't mention on this site, don't worry. It is perfectly normal, and everyone feels that way.
Here are some museum tips:
- When you start out with the museum (or after you upgrade it and unlock more slots), stick something in each slot, even if it is kinda worthless. A small bonus is better than no bonus at all.
- If you don't mind micromanaging your artifacts, you can swap them out strategically. For example, if you have an artifact that gives you a bonus on vault interest, you really only need it equipped when you withdraw from the vault. So you can keep something more generally useful equipped most of the time, and swap in your vault interest artifact only when you withdraw. This works really well for library cost savings - you only need the artifact equipped when you start the library research to get the savings.
- Crafted artifacts come with one, two, or three bonuses (lines) unlocked.
- The same bonus cannot appear on more than two lines on the same artifact. So don't waste your time trying to get 5 lines that increase your Fighter Damage (or whatever bonus you're after). Aim for artifacts that have two lines of your preferred bonus, and at least decent other lines. This is also true for rerolling - don't burn crowns trying to get a third line of your preferred bonus - it isn't happening.
- The maximum Main Hall bonus appears to be 11% and the maximum War Hall bonus is 6%. Ideally, you want crafted artifacts with two unlocked max base bonuses on things you care about. But those are rare, so at least in the beginning you may have to settle for what you can get.
- Don't waste your Blueprints, Supplies, Benefactors, and Researchers. Only unlock/upgrade artifacts that you intend to keep long term.
- Be sure to add Generals to your Dock expeditions. You may get Supplies, Benefactors, or Researchers as a bonus.
- When you can, get Legendary artifacts from events even if you don't plan on keeping them. You get a lot of Researchers for selling them, which helps you unlock other artifacts.
- There's a little easy-to-miss button near the top of the museum window that lets you buy more storage space for 250 crowns. You'll probably want to buy at least a few extra slots.
- Watch for various sales/events that give discounts on unlocking artifacts, increase your changes of higher bonus percentages, etc. These happen pretty often, and can make a big difference.
- Most (all?) things with a negative sign (ex. All Enemy Defenstive Tower Damage) caps at 85%. So don't bother trying to get debuffs past that.
- When you hit Space Age, research Palentology in the Library. It makes a HUGE difference. Also, research the entire Archeology bookcase.
- Do not underestimate Looted Resource Refund. This bonus type is a true game changer. Here is a link to my Looted Resource Refund page. This bonus is so important I linked to it twice in this one bullet point. And in case you missed it, here is a third link to it. Go read it. Right now. Seriously.
You can use crowns to reroll one line per artifact to try to improve the type/percentage. The odds of getting a particular type of bonus are very low, and you can burn a LOT of crowns trying to get something specific. Rerolling to get rid of a bonus type that is completely useless to you may be worth it. Reroll sparingly, to make great artifacts even better. Don't bother rerolling bad or even pretty good artifacts in hopes of making them great.
Here is how to get all the Blueprints you will ever need:
- Get to Space Age. Don't obsess about the Museum too much before that. You should really be focusing on offense and rushing ages until then anyway.
- In the Library, research Palentology (which unlocks at Space Age) and the entire Archeology bookcase.
- When you craft an artifact with three lines unlocked (and assuming it is not an awesome artifact that you want to keep), upgrade each of those lines ONE time before you sell it. This will take a few resources, but you will get way more net blueprints than if you had sold it without upgrading each line.
- Caveat: some artifacts (war equipment) require oil to upgrade. You can just sell these without upgrading anything if you do not want to spend your oil.
When I got serious about my museum, it took me about a year, many hours of crafting, and around 15,000 crowns to get close-enough-to-ideal artifacts. But it made a HUGE difference in my attacks, and was worth every bit of it.
