I started playing Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3) in late 2025. I finished my first playthrough (as a Swords Bard / Rogue / Fighter who specialized in hand crossbows) in late March 2026. The game timer on Steam showed 331.7 hours played, but that number is inaccurate - I'd often just leave the game open all evening and set the computer to the side while I did other things. I'm guessing that my actual playtime was between 150 and 200 hours.
I really enjoyed the game, but found it very long. Partly, that was because I was obsessively looting every container, reading every book, manuscript, and note, and generally trying to poke into every corner of the game. During the middle of the playthrough, I thought "this is fun, but I'll never play this again." I surprised myself by immediately wanting to start another playthrough as soon as the first was done. I didn't. I have other hobbies and (gasp) a real life with real humans in it, and I'd given BG3 as much of my time as I could for the moment.
I did, however, tentatively plan a character for my speculative second playthrough, while the game was still fresh in my mind. We'll see if it ever happens.
